Learn More About the D-Series
Yes. The D-Series ships with either a Ford 7.3L gas or GM 6.0L gas engine, and is also offered in electric and propane configurations. The electric version supports an optional Level 3 fast charge that recharges a bus in as little as 2 hours, with V2G capability that lets the vehicle feed power back to the utility. Propane is backed by ROUSH web-based and on-site training plus a growing national service network.
The body is built from 6 longitudinal structural beams combined with one-piece galvanized steel roof bows that enhance safety and rollover protection. Galvanized steel side barriers with built-in seat rails shield passengers from side collisions, and an integrated steel barrier with reinforced rear design adds protection at the back of the vehicle.
The body structure (welded or riveted metal components forming the floor, side walls, roof, front and rear) is covered for five years or 160,000 kilometers / 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first, against defects in structural integrity including rust-through. Non-chassis parts, accessories, and components are covered for one year or 20,000 kilometers / 12,000 miles.
Several design choices reduce long-term operating costs: galvanized steel construction and aluminum side panels lower repair costs, gravel shields and LED lights reduce wear, and energy-absorbing mounts improve ride quality while requiring less upkeep. Propane and electric variants further cut costs related to fuel, maintenance, and parts. The objective is to avoid the breakdowns, delays, and budget surprises that erode fleet margins over a vehicle's life.
Galvanized steel construction is warrantied against rust-through for five years. Fiberglass insulation and sealed construction reduce noise, moisture, and corrosion, and a sealed floor with premium materials blocks out dust, water, and noise, preserving ride quality over time.
